Computed tomography (CT) images are formed by combining the principles of x-ray with advanced computer technology. The images produced are cross-sectional patterned, much like slices of bread. By taking a series of images, a CT scan can create a multi-dimensional view of your body, allowing physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis of medical conditions. CT imaging is a non-invasive imaging technique that does not require hospitalization. CT scans take about 15-30 minutes depending on the type of information your physician needs.
Our
new Secura CT scanner uses a significantly lower dose of radiation than
other makes of scanners, so being imaged is safer. The scanner
is a rapid, helical scanner that is capable of performing a wide range
of diagnostic tests. It can reconstruct and
display an image every second during a scanning exam. CT scanning is
an important alternative when medical reasons prevent MRI scanning.
You should inform your physician and the CT technologist if you might be pregnant. When preparing for either a CT or MRI scan, wear comfortable athletic type clothing (like sweats) with no metal snaps, buttons, or zippers. Gowns and robes will also be available for your convenience. There are no special preparations required for your scan unless your doctor has informed you otherwise. If you have any questions or concerns about your visit, do not hesitate to give us a call.
Please note: All billing for the Imaging Center is done under the radiologist as the provider. It is the patients responsibility to make sure their scans are covered by their insurance.
